Banila Co. Prime Primer Classic Review

Today’s review will be about the Prime Primer from Banila Co. So I was on a quest to find the perfect primer for my face. If you’re like me and have all sorts of flaws such as wide pores, black heads, etc. you’ll know how important the primer is! I first heard about this item when I was given a sample to use from a friend. At first, I was kind of skeptical about it because i’m not really the kind of person that tries out samples you get after buying beauty products from a store. But since I heard some good things about this product I thought that i’d give it a try and I ended up buying the full product! Here are my thoughts on it.

BanillaCoPrimePrimer1

How to use?

After make up base, apply a tiny amount on your face and even out the formula in places where pores, wrinkles and fine lines are most visible

Review

First before I applied it, I put on toner, moisturiser and sun cream to prep up my face. After, I put a tiny amount on my hand and gently applied to to my entire face, focusing around the t-zone, cupids bow and chin. As I rubbed it in, I could really feel the silkiness of the primer. I liked how smoothly it applied onto my face. After letting it set for a couple of minutes, I applied one layer of BB cream on top and I could clearly see that all of my pores and cracks and nasties had settled down. They didn’t disappear and were still visible. But I liked how natural it looked on my face. On top of that, before applying a matte finishing powder, I could see that my face glowed. It wasn’t shiny but it gave a sheer silky finish to my face which I was very satisfied.

BanillaCoPrimePrimer5As you can see in the photo above, the primer is opaque and has a silky texture. I forgot to take photos of rubbing it into the skin and applying BB cream/foundation over it. So sorry about that!

Pros

– Has a silky, smooth texture

– Easy to apply; no mess

– Sets pretty quickly

Cons

– No listed ingredients which is a big bummer

– Not good for oily skin

– Mostly good to use during Fall & Winter season

Overview

Overall, I liked this product. It seems to help my skin feel smooth and even. A little goes a long way for this product. Even a small amount will instantly make your skin feel like velvet. The downside is that it is quite pricy for 30ml and it does make your skin glister. So if you have oily to combination skin, i’d recommend you buy the matte version of this, which I might do after using this up. It was my first time buying a banila co. product in full size and I wasn’t disappointed at all! I think this product will be in my future blog post of empties.

Innisfree – No-sebum Mineral Pact Review

Today’s review is on the No-sebum Mineral Pact from Innisfree! I bought it at my local Innisfree shop at 10,000 won for 8.5g which is pretty cheap for a pressed powder. There were two types of this product: powder & pact. I decided to get the pact because I am not a big fan of powdery products. Once, I accidentally spilt a loose powder in my bag and I had to throw it away 😦 I was The No-sebum Mineral Pact is mainly for people who have oily to combination skin like myself! So I was really excited to try this out and see if it really worked. It states that “This sebum control powder is designed to portray a soft and powdery complexion.”

Directions

1. In the last stage of your daily skincare routine, use powder puff to gently apply onto entire face or sebum concentrated areas.

2. This product may also be used in the last stage of makeup or as desired to throughout the day when shine becomes a concern.

Since I didn’t have the change to take photos applying it before & after my makeup, I decided to test it on my hand. I applied the Olive Real Body Butter from Innisfree on my hand since the olive series is really shiny & moisturizing.

Here is a photo of the product

The inside looks like this

It comes with a small puff. You can also use a powder brush to apply the formula on, depending on your own personal preference.

Processed with Rookie

It’s a translucent powder, meaning that no colour is transferred to the face.

So I used the Olive Real Butter and applied it onto my hand

Here’s a photo of my hand after applying the body butter. It was a sample I got from Innisfree a while ago 🙂 You can see how shiny my skin looks.

After, I dabbed the No-sebum Powder about 2-3 times  on my hand with the puff which came with the powder and here’s the result

사진 2

Can you see how fantastically it covered the shininess? I was more than satisfied with the outcome. My hand felt really soft and couldn’t feel any moisture or oil anywhere. I was really happy with the results.

Overall, I was really satisfied with how well it controlled the oil on my hand. I used it on my face for 4 days straight, applying as a finishing powder after applying BB cream and guess what? It stayed soft and matte for more than 6 hours! Of course I did re-apply it throughout the day. This powder is probably the best pressed powder for oily skin i’ve used so far. If you have combination (oily t-zone) or oily skin, I would definitely recommend you try this out because it’s amazeballs!!!

Huge Korean makeup/skincare Haul

Hi guys 🙂 So you’re probably wondering why Miso Beauty has been absent for the last two months. I’ve been working hard! Working 9 hours a day, producing music, helping out around my house AND blogging is pretty tough. But to think back, I realised how I sucked at managing my time. So now that I am back, I am now determined to update this blog as much as I can so please don’t leave me! *sobs*

For the past two months, I have totally spun out of control when buying beauty products. Now that I work at a beauty company, my interest in beauty has now become one of my greatest passions! I can never just “pass by” a makeup store without having a slight peek inside…You know, seeing if there’s any more new stuff in stock 🙂 it’s become a new habit of mine.

Disclaimer – I only buy beauty products when they are on sale. In Korea, beauty stores have sales every month. 97% of the products in this photo have been bought during a huge sale! I mean like 30-50% off sales! Except for the Skin Food Black Sugar Scrub Foam, Thayers Cucumber Witch Hazel Toner and Etude House Moistfull Collagen Firming Eye Cream.

Here’s a photo of all the products I got:

Image

Products listed in brand order

Etude House – Baking Powder Pore Cleansing Tissues (Oil Type), AC Clinic Intense Red Spot Balm, AC Clinic Intense Pink Powder Spot, AC Clinic Intense Powder Water, Precious Mineral BB Cream Bright Fit (W24 Honey Beige), Moistfull Collagen Emulsion, Moistfull Collagen First Essence, Moistfull Collagen Facial Freshener, Moistfull Collagen Firming Eye Cream, Color My Brows (#01), Perfect Brow Kit, Drawing Show Brush Liner (Brown), Play Nail (#20 Blooming Spring), Drawing Eye Brow (#02 Grey Brown), Oh M’ Eye Lash Slimcara Volume & Curl, Drawing Show Creamy Pencil (OR201 Swing Orange), Look At My Eyes Eyeshadow (BR401, PK004)

Innisfree – Olive Real Essential Oil Ex, Creamy Tint Lip Mousse (#01 Pink Orchid, #03 Fresh Coral)

Skin Food – Black Sugar Scrub Foam

Thayers – Cucumber Witch Hazel Toner

Holy cow, that’s A LOT!

Miso Beauty’s Top 3 Most Favourite Products

1. Skin Food – Black Sugar Scrub Foam

This facial scrub is probably the best one i’ve used so far. I love the grainy texture. You can actually feel that dead skin cells are being rubbed off by it. I love how it gradually turns into a foam. I love how it leaves my skin feeling like baby skin.

2. Etude House – Look At My Eyes Eyeshadow in BR401 Deep Berry Soda

The colour of this eyeshadow is GORGEOUS! I love how deep and bloody it looks. It is very pigmented and long lasting.

3. Etude House – Precious Mineral BB Cream Bright Fit

I love how this BB cream moisturises yet covers up blemishes while evening out my skin tone. Although i’d say the smell is horrible.

Miso Beauty’s Top 3 Most Used

1. Etude House – Drawing Eye Brow

This product is probably one of the cheapest out of my haul. Once I fill in my eyebrows, it stays there! It doesn’t smudge and it is really long lasting. I used this for 12+ hours and my brows still looked flawless.

2. Thayers – Cucumber Witch Hazel Toner

Most toners that i’ve used in the past always had that alcohol scent to it. Some of them were too harsh on my skin. But this baby is just what I needed! It is a non-alcoholic toner with a cucumber scent to it. If you don’t like the smell of cucumbers, i’d advise you not to buy this one (there are other scents too). I love how this toner keeps my skin moisturised and hydrated after washing my face! I’d recommend it to people who have sensitive skin.

3. Etude House – AC Clinic Intense Red Spot Balm

I also use this product nearly everyday. Etude House recommended to use it after my skincare routine. It helps soothe and heal pimple marks. I think i’ve seen an improvement on the areas of my face over ruled by pimples.

If you would like to see reviews on any of these products, comment down below! I thought it would be better to do separate, detailed reviews on each product rather than showing them all to you at once. If you enjoyed this post, give it a like 🙂

Etude House Precious Mineral Any Cushion Review

Hi friends 🙂 How have you been? It’s so cold in Korea these days…It wasn’t a surprise that I caught the flu 😦 I’ve been quite sick lately (including a runny nose, headache, fever and muscle pains) so I couldn’t put up any new posts. I hope you guys don’t catch the cold because it SUCKS! So anyways, today i’m going to do a review on the Precious Mineral Any Cushion from Etude House. It retails for 18,000 won but luckily, I bought it for 12,000 won because I went to Etude House on the LAST DAY of the 30-50% off sale! YAAAY 🙂 There were so many girlies at the store I couldn’t even move. You know when there are big sales at a department store and 10 different women are trying to grab as much stuff as possible from the same section, it was just like that. It was CRAY CRAY! And they put the heater on to like 100 degrees so it was HOT. Everyone was sweating and their makeup was drooling down their faces LOL I exaggerated a bit but yes, it was really hectic. But I managed to pull through and get the items I needed 🙂 I also bought the Moistfull Collagen eye cream but i’m going to do a separate review on that sometime this week. At first, I wasn’t really sure whether or not to buy this because I own one BB cream from Etude House and I didn’t really like it. But I thought about it again, and I decided to buy it just for this review and to also to give a chance to change my views on Etude House BB Creams! So here are photos of the Precious Mineral Any Cushion from the Etude House website. Image Image Image Photo credits to Etude House (http://www.etude.co.kr/product.do?method=view&prdCd=103001103) So, this is what the packaging looks like. It looked simple and girly. I liked that it was SPF 50+ because you need to protect your face from the sun and you don’t have to apply a sun cream before putting this on 🙂 Image The back. Image The side in English. For those of you who can’t see the photo clearly, it just says “This cushion pact perfects all-day radiant and moist skin with its multi-function of brightening, wrinkle-reducing, sebum control, and flawless coverage.” So it tells you to pick up a certain amount of contents (I think they mean to dab the puff into the pact) with the puff and spread evenly by lightly patting onto the skin. It weighs 15 grams (0.52 oz.) The list of ingredients are so long it would take me forever to write everything down but the main ones that caught my eye were: Water, Zinc Oxide, Titanium Oxide, Iron Oxides Hm..I know nothing about science but I hope that the zinc, titanium and iron oxides are good stuff. Image And the top part. I got it in the shade Natural Beige W13 because although my skin is really light, I didn’t want to look like a pale ghost. I personally dark colors are better than light colors (especially when taking photos). This BB cushion comes in 3 shades: Light Beige, Natural Beige and Honey Beige. Image The case Image Back Image Opened view Image Photo of the sponge As you can see in the photo, there are bits of glitter on the sponge…I don’t know why it’s there. But I read other reviews of the same product and they had sparkles on their sponges to. I think it was intentionally done by Etude House. I didn’t like that it had sparkles. What would’ve happened if those glitter pieces applied onto my face?! Image It says to peel off the paper thing and to also close the product completely after using it. So that’s what I did! Image AND WAHLAH!!!! It looked gorgeous. Image Actually in person, it looked a bit darker than I thought it would be. And I thought it would look more liquidy (as show in the photo at the top) Image But when I pressed my finger down onto the cushion, I could feel that the cushion was really wet and full of moisture. Image Swatches on my hand (before & after) You can’t really see a big difference in the photo but when I applied it onto my face, I was really impressed. Image Here’s a photo of me after 2 hours of applying the BB Cushion (no filter).

Pros & Cons

Pros Easy to apply, applies smoothly onto the skin, very moisturizing, buildable, great coverage, nice scent, photo friendly

Cons Makes your skin look shiny

Review

First off, I didn’t apply a primer or finishing powder when testing this product out. When I applied it onto my skin I thought it looked amazing. I was surprised it covered all of my zits and the redness around my nose. It has great coverage and it is buildable. The formula itself is very wet and moisturizing. The BB Cushion had a really nice smell. It smelt like light perfume. After I finished applying it, my skin felt really smooth and velvety. However, it did make my skin look a bit shiny and oily (maybe it was because I didn’t apply a powder after). I have combination skin and I get oily around my t-zone area. If you have oily/combination skin, I would recommend you use a matte powder or normal powder to set the BB formula. Also, this BB cushion is great for the fall/winter skin because it really hydrates your skin; keeping it moist. But I don’t know about summer 🙂 This BB cushion is absolutely photo friendly. As you can see in the photo above, my skin looked flawless without any filters. It made my face glow and I felt really confident when going outside. Also, I thought that the idea of putting a BB cream into a powder case form was clever because when you use a BB cream in tube form, you have to use a brush or your hands to blend it in. And it can get messy. So when you can’t be bothered to use a brush or get your hands dirty, I think this product is a winner. Overall, i’d say this is one of the best BB cream/cushions i’ve used. I’m really excited to use this on a daily basis! Overall rating 10/10

Etude House Moistfull Collagen Cream Review

So today, I decided to purchase the Moistfull Collagen Cream from Etude House. The moistfull collagen series had been a bit hit (especially in Korea) for a while now and since I turned 22 and realised that my skin was ageing, I decided to give this a try. Also, I heard that collagen really helps hydrate dry skin, which was just what I needed during this season. And I also became determined to focus more on skincare than makeup. And honestly, let’s face it… you can hide EVERYTHING with makeup. Even a tiny amount of BB cream or CC cream can make you look like a different person! A slight winged eyeliner can make you look like a goddess for goodness sakes! Makeup will help you hide all those nasty zits and blackheads and stuff like that.

But later on in life when you meet the love of your like and gradually get married and etc. You don’t wanna look like a wrinkly old woman in front of your hot man! Well, i’m sure I don’t want to! So that’s why I realised that skincare was my number one priority. If your skin looks healthy, you don’t need to put loads of heavy make up on to cover that beautiful, natural, original face of yours! I believe that having healthy skin will boost your confidence even more than putting on makeup. And my mum always told me that I needed to start taking care of my skin when I was just a junior in high school! She was right.

But for those of you who’ve had flawless all your lives, you guys are truly blessed so I hate you! haha just kidding. Despite my own thoughts, every woman is beautiful and you should take care of yourself because no one else is going to do it for you.

Anyways, enough with the blabber! Let’s get on with this review 🙂

Disclaimer: All of the words written in this blog post are 100% my own opinions!

So, here’s a photo of the product(s). A small bottle of essence came with the cream. The packaging was okay. Both bottles are plastic. And the cap looked kind of cheap.

Image

And here’s a more detailed description of the product. As a summary, it just says that it contains 30% hydrolysed collagen. Hydrolysed collagen is a type of marine collagen that is extracted from clean water seas. It also easily absorbs into the skin. The Moistfull Collagen Cream contains real baobab leaf extract (btw, baobab is a tree that originates in the African desert. It is said to store up to 120,000 litres of water. It’s also called a ‘moisture storage’). And best of all, both of these products are: paraffin, rubber, benzophenone and talc free!

Image

So the Etude House Moistfull Collagen Cream retails for 15,000 won which is approximately $14.28 which is a fairly good price. It only contains 60ml (2.02 fl. oz.). The essence that comes with it was 20ml (0.67 fl. oz.). I was expecting it to be a lot bigger in person but I was wrong.

Here’s a photo of the real packaging.

[Back]

[Side]

Image

So here’s a photo of the products!

Image

They both came in plastic containers, which kind of suites the whole collagen collection since you can see that they look really shiny and gel-like.

First off here’s the essence. So I don’t know if it’s just Korea, but Korea has a variety of skincare products like freshener, toner, essence, skin, emulsion, etc. (I don’t know why they call lotion ’emulsion’ lol)

So after washing you face, you’re supposed to start off with the facial freshener -> essence -> eye cream -> emulsion -> cream -> mist

After I washed and toned my face, I ignored the other steps and went straight on to applying the essence. The essence came in a really small bottle. I thought it was a rip off at first but after swatching it on my hand, I realised that i’d be able to use the essence for about a month. A little goes a long way!

Here’s a swatch of it on my hand. As you can see in the photo, the consistency is extra liquidy. It felt sticky too. It smelt like fresh cut grass or something that smells really fresh.

Image

And here’s a photo after I rubbed it in. It absorbed in right away. I didn’t feel much of a difference after I applied it other than it feeling sticky.

Image

Overall, the emulsion was alright. I didn’t feel that it hydrated & moisturized my skin completely. But after letting it set for a few minutes, I could feel that my skin became silkier.

* Although these are photos of my hands, I did test them on my face. I just couldn’t get around taking photos of my face. Sorry about that!

Next is the cream. Here’s a close view of the cream…It looked like pudding in a cup! But the smell…I honestly didn’t like the scent. It’s hard to describe the smell but it smelt like freshly cut flowers or something. But it’s really my own opinion. If you enjoy the smell of fresh lemon or grass or wild flowers, then this is the product for you! But apart from that, it looked interesting.

Image

Here’s a more detailed of the cream. I dabbed a little of it on my finger. It has a sheer, jelly-like consistency. Also, it had a very bouncy feel to it. You could tell right away that the cream was very supple indeed.

Image

I swatched the cream on my hand. It felt like water+vaseline+lotion mixed together. I actually liked the feeling of it on my hand. It wasn’t runny at all. The content didn’t droop down when I shook my hand.

Image

I rubbed the cream into my skin and instantly, I could see a glow. It felt really smooth and moisturising.

Image

After the essence and lotion had absorbed into my face, my face became really moisturized. My face felt so soft and smooth I kept touching it LOL. The cream itself wasn’t that heavy but it still nourished my face and kept my face moist for a long time.

Overall, I think the Moistfull Collagen Cream is a must-have item. Despite it only containing 60ml, it’s definitely worth the price. I’m really excited to use this product daily. I hope it does wonders to my skin!

Overall score out of 10

Moistfull Collagen Essence – 7/10

Moistfull Collagen –  9/10

Happy New Year everyone ❤

Tony Moly Luminous Goddess Aura BB Cream Review

BM03004900.jpgImage

http://eng.tonymoly.com/product/product_view.asp?idx=125&c_cd=3&g_cd=27&ListType=2 A few weeks ago, after a long time of thought and consideration, I decided to pop by Tony Moly and buy the Goddess Aura BB cream. It came out last October so it has been quite a while but i’ve heard so many good things about this particular BB cream! Alongside many other high-end bb creams such as Dior’s UV Shield BB cream (rank 5), It was ranked no. 1 on the Korean TV show Get it Beauty for BB creams. Furthermore, the Luminous Goddess Aura BB Cream only cost 13,000 won which is about 11.60 USD. Not only is it inexpensive, but the quality of this BB cream is said to be outstanding! Basic Information  Name of product: Luminous Goddess Aura BB Cream (45g) Company: Tony Moly Release date: October 10th, 2012 Price: 13,000 won / 11.60 USD Functions of the Luminous Goddess Aura BB Cream  – anti-wrinkle, whitening and UV protection – full coverage – anti-darkening – has the effects of soothing and moisturizing the skin – does not contain: talc, mineral oil, organic coloring, benzophenone, tar color Main ingredients Peptide, caffeine, adenosine, syn-ake, marin collagen After hearing so many positive things about it, I couldn’t resist to not buy this product. Especially because I am a BB cream freak!  I’ve been using this BB cream for roughly 3 weeks now and I decided to share some information on this product with you guys by doing a review, so I hope you enjoy it 🙂 Disclaimer – please note that this a subjective review based on my own opinions. So this is what the BB cream looks like! Love love love the girly packaging 🙂 But i’m Korean myself and I don’t understand why the name of this product is so darn long haha. Oh and it has an SPF of 37 which is extra good! (Front) IMG_0848_Fotor_20130415

(Back)

IMG_0850_Fotor_20130415 IMG_0851_Fotor_20130415

This is what the BB cream looks like. It has a fairly thick consistency. The only minus about this product is that it only comes in one color.

IMG_0855_Fotor_20130415

(From left to right: Etude House Precious Mineral Sun BB Cream in light beige no. 2, Tony Moly Expert Hyaluronic Acid BB Cream, Tony Moly Luminous Goddess Aura BB Cream) I did three quick swatches on my hand to compare the consistency. And as you can see in the photo, all three BB creams are fairly thick but once I started blending them into my skin, I found that the Etude House BB cream had a more watery touch to it and the other Tony Moly Expert BB cream also had a lot of moisture in it.

IMG_0860_Fotor_20130415

I started to smooth out the BB cream using my fingers and indeed, the immediate feeling I got was that it felt like a liquid foundation! Also, it has a really nice scent — not my personal favourite smell…BUT it smells like a mixture of flowers and baby powder haha. But honestly, the smell was a bit too empowering for me. If you have a sensitive nose like me, you’ll understand what i’m talking about!!! lol One thing I realized was that 99.9% of Korean BB creams have a fairly powerful scent to it and I really want to know why. Sometimes, I really wish that they sold non-fragranced BB creams. IMG_0862_Fotor_20130415

I don’t know if you can tell, but I smoothed out all three BB creams in a straight line. You can immediately tell that the Luminous Goddess BB cream has a much thicker texture seeing that it looks like it has already soaked into the skin! Also, the BB cream has a fairly matte finish to it.

IMG_0864_Fotor_20130415

And this is what my hand looks like after letting the three BB creams sink in for a minute or two. Gosh my hand really smelt of flowers and other girly things so my dog started licking it off haha. So first, I applied one layer of the BB cream to half of my face without using a primer or concealer. I really wanted to see what this BB cream was capable of doing! Especially for my uneven toned face. As you can see in the photo below, the left side is with the BB cream and the right side is without.

You can tell straight away that the BB cream covered up almost all of the redness and dark under eyes. I was really satisfied with the coverage. This BB cream does have the coverage of a foundation! Wow I am surprised. But one thing I noticed was that I have fairly dry skin and after letting the BB cream set for a few minutes, it dried up. I wouldn’t recommend using this BB cream by itself IF you have dry skin. I’d recommend using a moisturizing primer or cream before applying this.  This is a more precise photo of before and after applying the BB cream. In this photo, my skin looks a tad bit lighter after applying the BB cream but with natural lighting, there isn’t a big difference. Also, if you let the BB cream set for a few minutes, you’ll notice that the BB blends into your skin creating a more natural look! Untitled  This is a photo I took after I finished up my makeup. I also sealed the BB cream with a powder. When you take a flash photo, you’ll notice that there is a slight cast on the face. Also, it does have a matte finish to it.  I also applied the other half of my face with a foundation brush! And this photo is with just normal lighting. I was pretty worried that the BB cream wouldn’t match my skin tone but I was wrong! I think it matches fairly well 🙂 IMG_0866_Fotor_20130415

And lastly…Say hi to my puppy Choco 🙂 she is such a mischief maker…She started nibbling on the BB cream lid while I was doing my make up  hehe

Pros and Cons Pros – has an SPF of 37 PA+++ which is great for usage when going to the beach and in the summer – very good coverage; conceals dark circles, pimples and redness very well – has a smooth, matte finish to it – good for oily – smells good – a little goes a long way! You only need a small amount to cover up your whole face – affordable price – camera friendly Cons – it has a strong scent to it; I wouldn’t recommend this product for people with sensitive noses – not really suitable for dry skin. It dries up fairly quickly and sometimes can create cracks in the skin – you can look a bit cakey – if you have oily combination skin, you’ll notice that your t-zone will start to get a bit oily after a few hours – there’s only one colour choice available which is a big big big minus Overall, I love this BB cream! I think it’s an amazing product because the name of the BB cream speaks for itself. It’s camera friendly and the texture is very smooth and silky. It’s so inexpensive and I just love how it covers up all of those nasty zits and other buggers 🙂 The only main disadvantage is that it can get a little cakey if your skin dries up. So i’d recommend to spray on some face mist every couple of hours. That will help set the BB cream and keep it from not cracking your skin. I’d definitely recommend you to buy this product when you are in Korea because the product is really worth buying. Overal Rating ★★★★☆
