Etude House 2015 Lash Perm Curl Fix Mascara Review

Hey guys! I’m so excited to show you what I bought yesterday from Etude House. So I entered this event which gives you the opportunity to buy this product for just 2,400won ($2.40) 2-3 days before its official release in the market. And I got picked yay!!! 🙂 It will be available for purchase in Korea starting from June 1st.

Product information

Name – Lash Perm Curl Fix Mascara #01 Black

Price – 12,000 won ($12)

Capacity – 8g

So this is what the product looks like. It comes in a fairly big size tin box.

4

This is the advertisement photo.

img1

The colours they have are really unique! I’m gonna buy pink so I can wear to music festivals this summer! 😀

img4

Front of the box.

1

Back of the box has description in Korean and English.

3

On the top of the box, it says something like “If this product is so good and you decide to give to a friend, you may regret a lot.”Very funny Etude House, lol.

2

I love the detail on this tin case! It’s big enough to fit in eyeshadows, nail polishes, etc.

5

And when you open it, this is what you see.

8

This is a leaflet that just tells you a bit about the product and what it claims to do.

7 6 9

And inside…+_+ so freaking cute! Also, the event was for the black colour only.

10

Inside, it consists of the mascara and lash curler.

11

Here’s a close up of the design on the front.

12

And on the back.

13

And the brush! It is a rubber brush and I like rubber brushes! They reduce clumpiness. I actually was kinda shocked about how it smelt. It honestly smelt like gasoline, i’m not kidding.

16

Here’s a close up of the brush. The brush is smaller than the “average size” mascara you see on the markets. It is fairly short and on the top of the brush, it has long brushes and on the bottom it has short ones. I’m assuming they’re for upper and under lashes.

15

And here’s a photo of the eyelash curler. It is made of metal+plastic and very light weight. The rim of the rubber pad is fairly thick and spongy. Also, it doesn’t have any Etude House logo on it…I don’t know why.

17

Now for the test, here’s my naked eye.

eye1

I used the curler and it actually did a pretty good job of curling my lashes. Also since the cushion pad is very spongy, it had less irritation to my eyes.

eye3

Now here’s my eye with one coat of the mascara on. I loved how it didn’t clump. And since the brush tip is very short, there’s no need to worry about getting excess mascara around the surface of your eye.

eye4

This photo shows a really big difference of what this curler and mascara can do for your eyes! I have really short eyelashes so I need a pair of good curlers and mascara to really lift those eyelashes. I think it did a really good job.

eye6

And a good thing is that just use a mascara remover and it will come off like a charm. It doesn’t smudge and was waterproof! I don’t know if it will last 24 hours because I haven’t tried it on for that long. Also, i’m afraid it will make my eyes really irritated since i’ve had lasik done.

Pros

– Made of rubber so it reduces clumping of the lashes and also gives both volume and length to the lashes

– Short brush makes it easier to really get into those nooks and crannies

– Doesn’t smudge and dries fast

Cons

– Smells like gasoline

– Be careful when using the brush on your underline because it can slightly get clumpy

Overall score – 7/10

Aritaum – Water Sliding Tint Review

Hi guys! There was a 1+1 Water Sliding Tint event at Aritaum so of course I had to make a trip to the Aritaum store. I’ve now officially started shopping makeup online. However when it comes to lip products, I really don’t have the guts to make my decision by just seeing the colours in the description picture. It’s because 90% of the colours on photo are different in person. It’s the cold truth and it’s another factor you have to keep in mind before purchasing, especially if you’re buying something that’s Korean. An example of a brand that has different colours on photo + in person is Etude House. I’m going to purchase a lipstick from Etude House soon so i’ll take photos and show you how different it is haha. And in this review, you’ll understand what i’m talking about. There were so many colours to choose from it was really overwhelming! Anyone who is extra careful when buying something like me will understand when you go to the store to buy 2 lipsticks but swatch so many colours that your hand and inner arm end up stained to a pinkish orange colour! So here’s the event photo: 1cd47cf0-e130-4183-926c-e63653640b5f-1 Description Name of product: Water Sliding Tint Brand: Aritaum Manufacturer: Amore Pacific Price: 9,000 won each Capacity: 2.4g

Here’s a bit of what this product claims to be. (I translated from Korean to English)

1. Liquid in a stick – Slides and glides like water 2. High saturated colour – long lasting 3. Contains argan & fruit seed oil extract – keeps lips moist 4. No signs of “yoghurt” – so this means it’s non-sticky and keeps lips moist for a long time

Colour Chart 292babe0-d4fb-45ba-b2a9-f5236b635447dd05f819-00e3-4a52-8d7c-00e707b02624 After tons of swatches on my hand, I decided to go with No.3 and No.9 because I think they looked best on me. And here they are in person! a-1 b-1 On the top of the product, there’s a sticker that says “un-rewindable, twist 1mm at a time” which means once you twist it, you can’t untwist it. I don’t know why they made it like that. I actually took about 5 minutes thinking about it and I came to the conclusion that this tint has some kind of layer at the bottom where all the moisture or liquid is and once you twist, it wets the lipstick or something. I don’t know…I’m weird. haha But when you twist it, it makes a sound. c-1 d-1 Here are the colours! Don’t they look so pretty and watery? The consistency is like melted lipstick but much watery…It’s hard to describe. (The colour of No.03 Sweet Heart is a bit off here. It’s more of a warm tone pink in real life).  Lip Application There are 2 ways to apply “tints.” You can do a gradation look by dabbing the lip tint only in the centre part of your lips. Also, you can enhance the gradation by applying a concealer first and then applying on the centre of your lips. And the other way is to just smother it onto your lips of course. 😀 I chose to apply the popular way. 1-1 This is one application of the No.03 Sweet Heart. Now first off, the pigmentation is absolutely amazing. One thing for sure, this product is not sticky AT ALL! It feels so smooth and wet in a good way. I love how it felt on my lips. pink12 I don’t know if you can see a difference in the photos above but 2 applications really did make a difference. Not only did it enhance the colour but also made my lips super watery! coral1-1 Now this is one application of the No.09 Coral Fantasy. I love this colour because it looks natural yet not too orangey. coral12 As you can see above, 2 coats of this beauty made my lips feel really moist and hydrated. g-1 After 10 minutes of applying 2 coats of the lip tints, I transferred a kiss with some tissue and here’s how much it transferred. It is definitely not long lasting as a lot of it transferred onto the tissue. I believe this is because of the super watery consistency. However after about 10 minutes of application, it stains on your lips. This product definitely needs to be applied several times throughout the day just like a regular lip balm in order to keep that pigmentation.

e-1

Wrist Swatches

Now if you read the introduction paragraph of this review post, you can now see how different the colours look in the official Aritaum photo and in this photo. Coral Fantasy looks different. It’s way more pigmented than in that photo. But they still look pretty, which is most important, right? 🙂 f-1

I also did an additional swatch of some other tints just to give you a better picture of the consistency, pigmentation and overall colour. The most matte tint is the Etude House Sugar Tint and it’s the most pigmented out of them too (if you have dry lips, I do not recommend) and most sheer is Nivea Fruity Shine. Dior Addict Lip Glow both has pigmentation and moisture. BUT, it’s sticky. I don’t really mind if it’s sticky or not but it can get a bit annoying on a windy day and every strand of hair is desperate to stick to your lips. The Aritaum tints are sheer, non-sticky yet have high pigmentation but it’s not long-lasting. Let’s see if what Aritaum claimed it to be is true

1. Liquid in a stick – Slides and glides like water -> Yes, it definitely glides like water.

2. High saturated colour – long lasting -> Yes, it’s highly saturated and pigmented but it is not long lasting.

3. Contains argan & fruit seed oil extract – keeps lips moist -> Yes

4. No signs of “yoghurt” – so this means it’s non-sticky and keeps lips moist for a long time -> Yes

3 out of the 4 claims is true!

Pros – Very moisturising – No signs of dried lip skins – Highly pigmented – Considering the quality of the product, it’s a reasonable price

Cons – Not long lasting – The lip tint itself is very fragile and can chip – Can melt if left exposed in sunlight

Overall score – 8/10 I’m really satisfied with this purchase as the colour and consistency of the product is really smooth and beautiful. I like how my lips feel really smooth and not sticky at all. I am really considering buying two more of these! I hope you enjoyed this review. If you were to buy this product, which colour(s) would you wanna try out? 🙂

My Daily Makeup Look

My Daily Makeup Look – Makeup for work

FullSizeRender (4)

This is how I look on a daily basis (when I wear makeup). Since I got eyelash extensions, i’ve stayed away from false eyelashes, which I wore almost everyday and mascara. I like to wear this natural look daily just because it’s easy to do and makes your face look lively! If you’re an office worker like myself, staring at a computer screen for 9 hours can get really tiring for the skin. The air inside the office ain’t that nice either. So moisture based products are really great for making your face look more lively. I think the key to keeping your makeup looking fresh all day long is to prep your skin thoroughly before applying any makeup.

List of products used:

Laneige – Sun Block Supreme SPF50+ PA+++

Clinique – Moisture Surge CC Cream in shade #Natural Fair

Etude House – Surprise Essence Concealer in #02 Natural Beige

Anna Sui – Double Cheek Color in #01

Etude House – Drawing Show Brush LIner in #BK801

Etude House – Perfect Brow Kit

Maybelline – Color Sensational Moisture Extreme Lip Color #CP41 Angel Rose

Mini Haul + Innisfree Skin Moisture Level Test

Hi guys! 🙂 I decided to buy some products from Skinfood and Innisfree since they started a few good sales this week. Skinfood had a huge cleansing discount for all of their cleansing products. Some products were even discounted to 50%! Innisfree had a 1+1 sale, which included 1+1 No Sebum Powder, 1+1 mists, etc. Also, Innisfree started an event called “Guess your skin’s moisture level.” I’m not the kind of person who is into events like this. But I thought this one was worth doing. After you submit your guess of how much moisture your skin has online, you go to the Innisfree store and they do a quick test on your skin with a moisture measuring instrument. If you guess your moisture level correctly, you get a Green Tea Balancing Special kit and 3 It’s Real Mask Sheets. If you get it wrong, you just get the kit. Either way, I thought it was a clever marketing method to get people involved and educating them about their skin moisture level. After all, it’s what Korean girls rave about! Moisture is one of the most important things in Korean beauty. Skin full of moisture is considered beautiful and healthy. Most people don’t usually go to the dermatologist to get an actual moisture test done so the whole idea of this event was really interesting. Not only is it beneficial for them (because they are getting survey results from us) but it’s good for us too since we get a free trial kit! And who doesn’t love free stuff? 🙂 I love how Korea has big sales at least 2 times a month. Whether it’s a huge “up to 50% off all products” sale or a “1+1 sale, ” people get hooked. In Korea, we call brands such as Skinfood, Innisfree, TonyMoly, Etude House, etc. as “road shops.” It basically means (in Korea) “affordable makeup brands.”

Items I bought

Skinfood Honey Black Tea Cleansing Foam – Original Price 7,700 won / Sale Price 6,160 won

Skinfood Black Sugar Cleansing Water – Original Price 8,700 won / Sale Price 4,780 won

Skinfood Peach Sake Toner – 9,000 won

Innisfree No Sebum Powder (1+1) – 6,000 won

Missha Honey Butter Sheet Mask – 2,000 won

IMG_4142_Fotor

I can’t freaking wait to try these out! ❤

IMG_4152_Fotor

IMG_4153_Fotor

For me, the scent of a product is important. I don’t like products that smell like chemicals. I absolutely love the scent of the Honey Black Tea series. I was really tempted to buy the Good Afternoon Honey Black Tea BB Cream but I didn’t. I might buy it tomorrow…hehe.

IMG_4154_Fotor

I’ve tried the Black Sugar Mask and Black Sugar Scrub Foam. Both were really good for getting rid of dead skin cells and exfoliating. I wanted to get the cleansing oil but since I have eyelash extensions, I didn’t want to risk ruining them. So I chose this water based cleanser instead. I’m really looking forward to trying this out too.

IMG_4155_Fotor

I finally got my hands around a Peach Sake product! This was the only Peach Sake skin product available in the store. I wanted to buy the serum and emulsion of this too. However according to the owner of a Skinfood store in my town, Peach Sake skincare products have been out of stock in all Korean stores for a while now. So, if you are living abroad and are wondering why these products are never in stock in your favorite Korean beauty website, now you know! The manufacturers have either stopped making it or they are out of ingredients. I have a feeling this line will eventually be discontinued. 😦 I really hope it doesn’t. It’s been around for such a long time and it’s been loved by so many people!

IMG_4157_Fotor

I got two of these for the price of one! This sale is only on for a limited time only. I also overheard Innisfree staff saying that it is limited to 2 purchases per person. I’ve done a review on the pact version and use it everyday. I’m curious to see if this product can out stand the pact version. 🙂

IMG_4147_Fotor

I wasn’t really planning on buying this. It was rather an driven purchase. I decided to take a quick tour inside Missha and this product caught my eye. It has 5 sheets inside and only costs $2! Currently, “honey butter” is the most popular thing in Korea right now. It all started off with the Honey Butter Chips from the brand “Calbee” (갈비 which means “ribs” in Korean) late last year.

1422517011-89

These chips all of a sudden became famous and now it’s considered a rare product. It’s not even available in the supermarket or convenience store. You have to buy online and they are expensive. From food to makeup products, everything is honey butter. I thought this was product was very interesting and I was really curious to see what it smells like too.

IMG_4159_Fotor

This is the kit I received from doing the moisture index test. I guessed that I moisture level would be 30% but that was way off my actual results. My skin moisture level was something like 10%, which was considered as lack of moisture. Maybe it was because I spent 9 hours at my super dry office…:) The staff recommended me to get the super moisture kit but I knew it would be too much for my skin since I get really oily around my t-zone. So I ended up getting this one instead. (I accidentally ripped the packaging a bit. Got a bit too excited :p).

IMG_4158_Fotor

Here’s whats inside. It’s basically a miniature version of all of the main products from the Green Tea line, except for the eye cream. I’m excited to test this out. If I find it goes well for my skin, i’m definitely buying this line…! Well…After I finish using up my current skincare products of course. 🙂

IMG_4146_Fotor

These are samples I got with my purchase from Innisfree and Skinfood. Usually, road shops don’t give out samples during sales. I got the Skinfood ones because the Peach Sake Toner wasn’t on sale. The Innisfree samples, they just gave to me for free! I love you Innisfree. ❤

IMG_4164_Fotor

Inside the Innisfree sample packet from left to top left. I absolutely love the smell of the apple juicy line!

That’s the end of my mini haul and visit to Innisfree to get a moisture level test done. It was my first ever time getting a skin test done like that. Now that I know what my moisture level is on a daily basis, i’m gonna focus more on keeping my skin hydrated and moist! Stay tuned for more reviews on skincare products. 🙂

Laneige – Time Freeze Intensive Cream Review

Hej, today I’m going to review the Time Freeze Intensive Cream by Laneige. It’s been about 3 months using this cream and I thought it would be the perfect time to do a review on it. IMG_3942

I like how futuristic and minimal the Laneige containers look like. Although the cream itself is the most important factor I considered when buying, I think the designs of beauty product are very important too.

IMG_3944

When you open it, it looks like this

IMG_3945

After peeling off the Laneige seal, there’s an easy to use lid to open and seal tight.

IMG_3946

The colour of the cream is ivory and the consistency is very stubborn. When you look at it, It doesn’t have any stickiness or elasticity at all, just pure thick whipped cream-like consistency. But when you apply it onto your face, it’s a different feeling.

IMG_3947

This cream is actually for the Winter season and Fall season since it has a thicker consistency than the usual cream. So if you’re looking for a skin-protecting cream, this is the one. However, I don’t recommend it for hot weather as it can feel heavy on the skin, with make up applied on top.

IMG_3949

Here’s a photo of my hand before application.

IMG_3950

For the first few times, I applied with a spatula but then I got lazy and just started using my fingers. The idea of using a spatula for putting stuff like that on the face is a very creative, hygienic approach. However, that means you have to keep both your hands and spatula clean which was just a bother for me. And from my experience, no matter how clean you keep the product and no matter what you use whether it’s a spoon, a knife, a spatula to put it on, the cream inside WILL get dirty somehow. It’s the same as bobby pins. No matter how many you buy, they will disappear. That’s the downside of these types of packaging.

IMG_3956

And here’s my hand with a thin layer of cream applied. You can see that overall, my hand has become shinier and glossy. When I applied to my face, the consistency was very creamy and fitting. I could feel the cream really soaking into my skin instantly. It’s like the feeling of putting on a sleeping pack but much more absorbent. It kept my skin moist for about 30 mins. But after that, I couldn’t really feel the residue of the cream left on my face, which was very good for me since I have oily combination skin. I was left with like a layer of skin protectant which was very effective for me during the cold Winter season in Korea.

I wouldn’t say that it was the best cream for acne or blemishes because I didn’t feel like any of my imperfections were getting any better but good for whitening and firming. Another good thing about this cream was that I could see some of the wrinkle lines on the side of my eyes were fading. Not a lot but slightly.

Untitled-1

The best part about this cream is that I got compliments from people that my skin whitened. Honestly, I prefer having a more natural, healthy looking skin colour but in Korea, it’s a good compliment to tell some one that “you have pale white skin.” I’ll do a post on “Korean beauty standards” soon.

IMG_3960

And to finish off, these were all of the samples I got for just one purchase! I was very pleased with how much they gave me. I think this is the best part about Korean beauty products. You get to test a ton of different products out before purchasing them, which is a very clever marketing strategy. Way to go Korea! I only tried out the IOPE toner and lotion which I enjoyed. I am thinking of buying them in full sizes too when I finish using this cream up.

Pros

– Very firm feeling when applied onto the face

– The “oiliness” of the cream will absorb into the skin pretty fast

– Protects your skin from the cold

Cons

– Not the most practical packaging

– Not suitable for all 4 seasons

– Quite expensive for a single cream which is 50ml

Design – 8/10

Whitening – 7/10

Price – 6/10

Absorption – 8/10

Banila Co. Prime Primer Classic Review

Today’s review will be about the Prime Primer from Banila Co. So I was on a quest to find the perfect primer for my face. If you’re like me and have all sorts of flaws such as wide pores, black heads, etc. you’ll know how important the primer is! I first heard about this item when I was given a sample to use from a friend. At first, I was kind of skeptical about it because i’m not really the kind of person that tries out samples you get after buying beauty products from a store. But since I heard some good things about this product I thought that i’d give it a try and I ended up buying the full product! Here are my thoughts on it.

BanilaCoPrimePrimer2

Product info

Name – Prime Primer Classic

Brand – banila co.

Price – 18,000 won ($16)

Volume – 30ml

Packaging

– Nice design but the black box was very prone to visible dust and marks

– Came in a plastic container with a pump so very practical to use

– Has a safety cap on the pump so it doesn’t leak everywhere

1404188141089230

BanillaCoPrimePrimer3

Description (translated to English)

“Evens out pores, fine lines and wrinkles which help prepare your face for putting on make up. You won’t feel your skin tingle or dry out. Also, it prevents skin to appear oily and shiny. Keeps your face feeling fresh and long-lasting.”

BanillaCoPrimePrimer1

How to use?

After make up base, apply a tiny amount on your face and even out the formula in places where pores, wrinkles and fine lines are most visible

Review

First before I applied it, I put on toner, moisturiser and sun cream to prep up my face. After, I put a tiny amount on my hand and gently applied to to my entire face, focusing around the t-zone, cupids bow and chin. As I rubbed it in, I could really feel the silkiness of the primer. I liked how smoothly it applied onto my face. After letting it set for a couple of minutes, I applied one layer of BB cream on top and I could clearly see that all of my pores and cracks and nasties had settled down. They didn’t disappear and were still visible. But I liked how natural it looked on my face. On top of that, before applying a matte finishing powder, I could see that my face glowed. It wasn’t shiny but it gave a sheer silky finish to my face which I was very satisfied.

BanillaCoPrimePrimer5As you can see in the photo above, the primer is opaque and has a silky texture. I forgot to take photos of rubbing it into the skin and applying BB cream/foundation over it. So sorry about that!

Pros

– Has a silky, smooth texture

– Easy to apply; no mess

– Sets pretty quickly

Cons

– No listed ingredients which is a big bummer

– Not good for oily skin

– Mostly good to use during Fall & Winter season

Overview

Overall, I liked this product. It seems to help my skin feel smooth and even. A little goes a long way for this product. Even a small amount will instantly make your skin feel like velvet. The downside is that it is quite pricy for 30ml and it does make your skin glister. So if you have oily to combination skin, i’d recommend you buy the matte version of this, which I might do after using this up. It was my first time buying a banila co. product in full size and I wasn’t disappointed at all! I think this product will be in my future blog post of empties.

Innisfree – No-sebum Mineral Pact Review

Today’s review is on the No-sebum Mineral Pact from Innisfree! I bought it at my local Innisfree shop at 10,000 won for 8.5g which is pretty cheap for a pressed powder. There were two types of this product: powder & pact. I decided to get the pact because I am not a big fan of powdery products. Once, I accidentally spilt a loose powder in my bag and I had to throw it away 😦 I was The No-sebum Mineral Pact is mainly for people who have oily to combination skin like myself! So I was really excited to try this out and see if it really worked. It states that “This sebum control powder is designed to portray a soft and powdery complexion.”

Directions

1. In the last stage of your daily skincare routine, use powder puff to gently apply onto entire face or sebum concentrated areas.

2. This product may also be used in the last stage of makeup or as desired to throughout the day when shine becomes a concern.

Since I didn’t have the change to take photos applying it before & after my makeup, I decided to test it on my hand. I applied the Olive Real Body Butter from Innisfree on my hand since the olive series is really shiny & moisturizing.

Here is a photo of the product

Processed with Rookie

The inside looks like this

Processed with Rookie

It comes with a small puff. You can also use a powder brush to apply the formula on, depending on your own personal preference.

Processed with Rookie

It’s a translucent powder, meaning that no colour is transferred to the face.

So I used the Olive Real Butter and applied it onto my hand

Here’s a photo of my hand after applying the body butter. It was a sample I got from Innisfree a while ago 🙂 You can see how shiny my skin looks.

사진 1

After, I dabbed the No-sebum Powder about 2-3 times  on my hand with the puff which came with the powder and here’s the result

사진 2

Can you see how fantastically it covered the shininess? I was more than satisfied with the outcome. My hand felt really soft and couldn’t feel any moisture or oil anywhere. I was really happy with the results.

Overall, I was really satisfied with how well it controlled the oil on my hand. I used it on my face for 4 days straight, applying as a finishing powder after applying BB cream and guess what? It stayed soft and matte for more than 6 hours! Of course I did re-apply it throughout the day. This powder is probably the best pressed powder for oily skin i’ve used so far. If you have combination (oily t-zone) or oily skin, I would definitely recommend you try this out because it’s amazeballs!!!
